Scene Transitions

The newest feature for the 2D Shooter Game Creator is the ability to make nifty transitions between the scenes of your game. This is useful for adding originality and graphical flair over the old one transition method... This guide is here to tell you about each transition that we have added... so far.

All slide-based and slide over scene transition have four directions to go in.

  • Slide - The slide moves the old scene out and the new one in, as if they were attached. The default is slide from right.
  • Slide over - This slides the new scene over the old one
  • Slide, fixed foreground - This slides the new background in (and old one out), but not the foreground
  • Slide, fixed background - This slides the new foreground in (and old one out), but not the background
  • Fade - A simple alpha fade between two scenes
  • Shrink out - The old scene shrinks out to the centre of the screen
  • Random - Any of the above

The fixed background varieties can be used to just slide only the enemies in, allowing you to have enemies that jump up at you! This is because the background will not move and so the enemies will appear from wherever!

We are also developing more transitions for the future releases - including ones which look like you are moving forward.
